Tokyo events for Monday, March 16, to Sunday, March 22, 2026.
It’s the calm before the storm of cherry blossom festivals takes over the city, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing on this week. From early festivities at Ueno Park to the Golden Dragon Dance at Sensōji Temple, here are some of our favorite things to do over the next seven days.
Mar 14th - Apr 5th
Grab something to eat and drink, and relax on a picnic rug or walk around and take in the festivities. This week, there will be live music, DJs, and comedy, including classical music and idol performances, as well as tons of stalls selling food from Ueno and beyond.
Feb 21st - Mar 22nd
Ōme is the place to be if you want both a view of plum blossoms and a fun-filled event that includes tours, dances, performances, and marches. Replanted in 2014, the trees might not be as big as they are in other places, but the fun of this festival extends beyond the pink blossoms.
Feb 11th - Mar 22nd
The Mito Plum Festival takes place in Kairakuen Garden, one of Japan’s most iconic plum blossom parks. If the park isn’t eye-catching enough to fill your day, you can also visit the Kodokan building, a martial arts school surrounded by plum trees.

The Kinryu no Mai is one of the highlights of the event calendar at the already popular Sensōji Temple in Tokyo. The Golden Dragon Dance celebrates the founding of the temple back in 628, when two fishermen pulled a Buddhist statue from the river. It takes place on March 18 every year.

The Luckiest Museum in the World invites visitors to explore charms, talismans, and lucky objects from around the globe — all said to bring good fortune in love, health, travel, and even safety in crossing Shibuya Scramble.
Mar 21st
Yokohama Night Flowers was formerly called Yokohama Sparkling Twilight. This event has evolved over the years and is now a seasonal fireworks festival that runs from summer through winter.
Mar 13th - 22nd
Tokyo Creative Salon will host a range of fashion and design-related events. They will span nine iconic areas, including Marunouchi, Nihonbashi, Ginza, Akasaka, Shibuya, Harajuku, Haneda, Roppongi, and Shinjuku.
Mar 22nd
For only one day a year, Meiji Jingū opens its doors for an important 10 km race: the Shibuya–Omotesandō Women’s Run. Whether you’ve come to cheer or participate, the atmosphere is bound to inspire.
